Location:
It is located at 1350m above the sea level (with the highest ski runs at 2600 m), on the Northern slopes of Rila mountain among age-old pine woods, at the foot of Mousala peak (2925 m) the highest on the Balkan peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible, being only 70 km from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) and 126 km from Plovdiv.
Climate: Borovets is a climatic mountain resort with a short summers and long cold winters. The average temperature during January, the coldest month, is minus 5 °C. The skiing season covers mid - December to mid - April. There are often perfect conditions for skiing. It is the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole season.

Borovets is the oldest mountain resort in Bulgaria where skiers can experience the thrills of the "white sport" in winter, and hikers enjoy the green freshness of the mountains in summer.
It is a very popular place among western Europeans and especially Brits. It has quite a few hotels and private villas which serve as hotels in winter. The best hotels overlook the ski slopes.
Ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers designed with international markings and multilingual signs are available. All ski runs are groomed daily and maintained to high standards. |
