HOLIDAY Brits looking for this year’s best value foreign destination should head for sunny BULGARIA, a survey revealed yesterday. The former communist Black Sea state boasts beer at 49p a pint and will leave your wallet bulg-ing compared with Spain. It officially tops this year’s Best Value Breaks report — thanks to cheap £58 flights and a night in a double room at a three-star hotel costing less than £50. Once there, a slap-up three-course meal with tip will set you back just £7 — while a Big Mac is £1 and a typical taxi ride just £1.45. Other factors taken into account were the quality of accommodation — and the weather. Spain — no longer the bargain it once was — is ranked a lowly 17th. Runner-up in the annual survey by Teletext Holidays is Morocco. A five-star double room with breakfast in Marrakech costs on average of £80. Beer is 51p a pint. For those seeking something even more exotic the best value long-haul destination is India — while South Africa also makes the Top Ten. Ash Makkar, of Teletext Holidays, said: “Interest in countries such as Morocco and India has grown significantly, proving people are becoming more adventurous.” Source: www.thesun.co.uk |
